Product Description
The Adventure Galley was an English Galley Frigate commanded by the infamous former buccaneer Captain William Kidd. She was launched at the end of 1695 and was acquired by Captain Kidd the following year for a privateering enterprise to hunt pirates in the Red Sea. Between 1696 and 1698 she sought her piratical prey, but failed to find any until the end of her cruise. However, instead of capturing the pirates, Kidd himself turned pirate in desperation. Adventure Galley succeeded in capturing several ships, none of them pirates. By the spring of 1698 the ship's hull had become so rotten and leaky that she was no longer seaworthy. She was scuttled off the coast of Madagascar. Upon returning to Boston with his prize, Kidd was arrested for Piracy and sent to London for trial. He was convicted and hanged in 1701.
