The Loyd carrier was one of many small tracked vehicles utilised by the British and Commonwealth forces on all fronts of the Second World War. They were primarily used to transport both men and equipment around the battlefield and to move infantry support weapons. They were often used alongside the Bren, Scout and Machine gun carriers.
They were fast and highly-mobile vehicles. Also known as the universal carrier, this was one of the more distinctive vehicles used by any side during the war.
